The Baseness of the Earth, the One Without A Master, the supreme force of Nature. Belial is a sort of counterpart to such recognized Earth entities as Gaia, or Ochún. Representing nature and all things that provene from the earth, Belial was an entity thought to help with good harvests and protect from wild beasts. Also, anyone seeking earthly success and wealth could summon this mysterious and powerful being for help. Belial is friend to the forest, protector of the animals, and bestows gifts to the living who respect his domain. The Earth sustains us, and we, in turn, must respect and nurture it if we expect to exist harmoniously on it. Belial's grace brings abundance and good life; his wrath is poverty and despair.
